Finding the perfect size.

Living Room

The General rule of thumb is to place the front legs of the sofas and chairs on the rug. Leave at least 6”- 8" of rug space on each side of the furniture. Make sure there is at least 1feet (12") of exposed floor between the rug and walls thus avoiding a wall-to-wall carpet feel and look. For a much larger room, choose a rug that is large enough to contain all four legs of sofas, chairs, coffee tables or side tables.

Dining Room

Select a rug that fits all four chair legs, even when the chairs are pulled out. Leave at least 2 feet (24”) of room between the backs of the chairs and the edges of the rug. For extendable tables, select a rug size that can accommodate the table at its extended length.

Bed Room

The most common rule of thumb is to choose an area rug that extends at least a foot from either side of the bed. For larger rooms or beds, consider a rug that can also comfortably fit your nightstands. From runners to large area rugs, there are many sizes and layouts that work in the bedroom.
